Joel is a Partner and the Chief Investment Officer of Solitude Capital Management. Joel was a Managing Director at ChinaRock Capital Management. He was a Portfolio Manager at Plural Investments and Sandelman Partners, a $4.5 billion multi-strategy fund. While at Sandelman Partners, Joel co-established the European office in London and managed a European long/short equity strategy. He began his career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and an associate at Frontenac, a private equity firm. Joel earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Angela is a Partner at Solitude Capital Management. She worked with Joel at ChinaRock Capital Management as an investment analyst where she managed junior research staff and was responsible for investment ideas and diligence. Prior to ChinaRock, Angela worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an audit associate. She earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Economics and Finance degree from the University of Hong Kong, graduating with 1st Honors. Angela speaks Mandarin, English and Cantonese.

Derek is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Solitude Capital Management. Before joining Solitude, Derek served for two years as Director of Operations for Oasis Management (Hong Kong) LLC, adviser to an approximately $1 billion multi-strategy, multi-asset class Hong Kong based hedge fund. Prior to joining Oasis, Derek worked for eight years in various roles at Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services in Hong Kong and Chicago, including Relationship Manager and Team Leader for their OTC Structured Products team. Derek began his career as an investment accountant at Bank of New York Mellon. Derek earned a Bachelor of Science in Management degree majoring in Finance from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2006 as a Dean’s Honor Scholar. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA), and has taught CFA exam prep classes for Kaplan for two years while in Hong Kong.
